Hi,

we have a R reg seven, cycle wings 1.8 roadsport, great car. Having a problem with the indicators however. They keep blowing fuses?? Indicating right there no problems works fine but as soon as the switch is flicked left the fuses blows. I have checked everything obvious, bulbs, flasher unit etc to no avail. Opened up the rear cluster and there was a bit of corrosion where it earths so I have cleaned it up and now its fine, still Blowing fuses though! The only area i think the earth might be a bot dodgy is under the wing but i still think it should be earthing ok.

anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? any help or suggestion would be much appreciated

thanks

Murray

Murry, I obtainedthe wiring diagram and the wiring key / plug information from Caterham Cars Engineering Deptartment. Mine was for the R300 motor. CC can and will provide it. If you have no joy I could fax it to you.

For a while my car kept blowing a fuse for the rear lights.

It turned out to be a short circuit caused by a dodgy piece of wire. It was CC that eventually tracked down the offending section of wire but it was a bitch to find. Although easy enough to replace.

Mine was blowing fuses due to water getting into the rear light clusters. At one point the LHS rear cluster was half full of rainwater

A bad earth won't blow a fuse. This will just stop the lights working. The live must be shorting out for the fuse to blow so look for a chaffed wire etc.
