Weird noise.

There is a tapping/knocking noise from somewhere in my Lotus 7 when i take a left hand bend at anything over 20mph. It is very annoying but i cant trace it. Any ideas?

Is your oil pressure OK during the left turns?

Its an annoyin noise from somewher near the rear. Nothing to do with the engine.

Sounds like it might be a diff' issue.

What version of 7 have you got?

Its a '78 twincam. Built from lotus parts by caterham.

It's quite elderly then.

I presume it has a solid beam axle. It might be the differential then as mine (which has an Ital axle) has started to whine.

Do you get a Caterham/Lotus specialist to look at your car from time to time?

The chaps at Redline Components in Caterham are pretty good on the older models of Sevens.
