If I've bought a car with the 'big brake' kit, which model calipers am I likely to have? A bit cryptic I know, but I need to order some pagids and don't know the caliper model! If it's of any help the rears are full race calipers (with dust seals though), as they have no handbrake provision on them....

If they are Caterham branded then they will AP racing brakes, certainly the rears sound like those. There are I think three generations of the AP racing 4 piston front caliper.

Does this help at all?

Dino, thanks. However, do you know the model numbers of these calipers? If there are 3 variants, are these all essentially the same caliper with different 'branding' on (i.e. piston size and swept pad area are identical, hence all 3 take the same pad, etc). Any info on the rears? cheers

Your rears sound like the AP racing race brakes which have no handbrake facility. I believe that these are a twin piston design. I am not entirely sure what pads go with which brakes but I believe there may be some differences between each one. I don't have the part numbers for my pads to hand I'm afraid.

If you speak to Caterham's parts department they are very helpful 01322 625800, have a description and notes of any markings on your calipers and they might know what brakes you have.
