When fitting an Emerald, is it literally plug and play (with a suitable safe/base map), or is there a bit more to it? I presume depending on whether it's an EU1/2/3 engine the main ECU plug should just fit straight in, leaving the Emerald to utilise all the exisiting MEMS sensors? If this is not the case, how much hassle is it? Does Dave W just charge a flat fee for mapping, regardless of hours (up to a point obviously!).
As far as I know you just have to set teh throttle position for fully closed and fully open .. can you get emerald on teh phone? maybe they're not working till tomorrow? .. i think dave carges a flat fee for mapping .. was 200 plus vat last time i was there but that was a while ago now.
Fergus, I visited Emerald a year or so ago to have one fitted. Dave starts with a base map and Karl then fine tunes it to the engine. For this reason, I really would recommend that you visit them and get them to fit it and map it to your particular engine. The best £200 I've ever spent (plus the cost of the ECU, natch). Plus you may strike lucky and taste some of Olga's home cooking!...and the drive up there ain't bad either.
