I would like to make a replica of the Caterham 170 (S3 chassis) pedals in PVC, just to test how difficult it is to use my feet in such a narrow space. My idea is to try different driving shoes and see what happens. I have found some different measurements but I would like to be sure. I have also tried downloading 3D models but again I'm not sure if they are precise. I don't know if this photo belongs to a modern Caterham. I am interested in the 170 model. Could anyone please tell me the data corresponding to the numbers in the photo?

PD: I have already tried fitting my big butt in a chair narrowing the sides with blocks until the free space is 40 cm (which is the space between the side wall and the central tunnel in the S3 chassis) and I had no problem. Tight, but acceptable.

Sorry for my English.

Well, I ve just stuck my head down the footwell of my 2017 S3 420R & these are the measurements for my car. I think the chassis on the 170 is the same size as any other S3 chassis Caterham. It s just the wings & suspension that are different.

1 - 37mm

2 - 32mm

3 - 22mm

4 - 50mm

5 - 48mm

6 - 40mm

7 - 35mm

8 - 264mm

My measurement for the brake pedal (& therefore measurements 5 & 6) takes account of the fact that I ve removed the pedal rubber on my car. The pedal is obviously a little wider with the rubber attached.

I also have an extension on my throttle pedal, but I ve ignored that in the measurements & simply measured the width of the pedal itself.

I suspect there is a fair amount of variation between different Sevens in terms of the pedal positioning & there s a lot of adjustment possible, so I m sure you could tailor the pedal box to meet your requirements.

I think the ability to set the car up as you like it is one of the joys of Seven ownership. Good luck in your search!

You’re very welcome.

Are you on Facebook? There are some very active Caterham groups on there with people who could answer your 170 related questions. The Caterham & Lotus 7 Club forum Blatchat is very good too, although you need to be a member to post on there.
