Type 9 gearbox stuck in 4th - blocker bars

Just taken my gearbox out as it was stuck in 4th gear - a blocker bar has lifted and stopped the synchro from sliding. I've poked it back in which fixed the shift but I don't know why it's come out.
The bar is slightly springy when pressed. Is it likely to just be a worn bar and replacement of the bars is all that's needed or is something else meant to hold them in place?
