Do you think Caterham will introduce a new 7 model between the 170 & 360 and if so what power plant might they use?

The Ford 1.6 Sigma engine sat nicely between the Suzuki 660cc and Ford 2L Duratec before it was discontinued, what engine with the same horsepower could be engineered to fit?

They said they were struggling to find one and given that a new one takes a lot of effort I think it's unlikely. They have rather a lot on their hands at the moment

But you never know

Morgan have a 120hp naturally aspirated Ford engine in their Super 3 - the de-turbocharged 1.5 'Dragon' triple. However I guess it may not be easy to persuade them to share with a rival.

Mazda have the 1.5 in the MX-5 too.

The sales ban for ICE is seven years away, unless there's a reprieve for small manufacturers.

Any reprieve will only provide more breathing space in reality, not a lifelong supply of ICE Caterham's, in my view.

Anyway, there's still time for updates, and perhaps as long as demand is still strong in the short term, they'll be mainly cosmetic and fixing existing niggles I'd guess.

The 2.0 Duratec may have been discontinued, but the Mazda MZR is still in production, and it's basically the same engine.
Have a look at the forged Mazda crank I just bought for my ST150 motor, in the Nuvite thread. It has "FoMoCo" forged into it.
