Softbits are out of stock on nearly everything! so no caps available.

my car will be in storage and then driven to nearby Thruxton for trackdays. later I'll venture further afield and park at hotels, which is 2 days weather outdoors to consider. it has the fixed doors from its Academy days and a hood, which I hope still fits over the Caged cage, but not sure how much of a faff this hood is. with fixed doors it won't be sealed anyway.

So what do I really need to do to keep things dry between track sessions in the rain?
- not bother and wear waterproofs
- a bit of tarp, if not too windy
- clip some plastic on the inside of the screen to keep dash & electrics dry. let it run into footwell
- hood shouldn't take too long, use that
- ?

when searching I discovered a big problem people had when trailering was truck spray getting under the car and causing electrical and alternator problems! This car is going to be a journey, a bit like deciphering what type of cage I had in the first place!

true, and I'll look.

also, I was asking a broad question about what needs to be kept dry. wet bum I can handle, but electrics etc?
Softbits quote one firm renting Caterhams as suffering alternator failures from rain and thus using long nose caps on their cars. so, looking for top tips.

For 20 years I’ve only ever used the full tonneau cover whether trailering it or parked up overnight. Never had electrical problems.

I also got a simple cap from "the other" vendor in Oxted. the politics around this simple car are.... sad!

Sounds somewhat unlikely to me!

In the Elise I use a golf umbrella with a bit of bundgy cord attached to the gear stick to stop it blowing away.

Simple and quick.

I do agree. I wouldn't have thought weather would affect anything under the bonnet, jet wash yes, but not rain.
from SoftBits longhouse cap page:
Some advantages customers have found are...
Premier Power - Keen to reduce the chance of water going in the throttle bodies on their engines
Boyd of Caterham Highland Hire - Thinks excessive water ingress cost him an alternator ( This year his whole fleet will have these showercaps.)
Martin Crisp (who we have to thank for the design originating) was keen to keep the engine bay dry and clean.

Just buy a generic waterproof car cover for now - and put an order in for the long nose for when it becomes available again. Have you actually called softbits - they often make things to order now so the website shows out of stock.

Driving it in the wet is no issue - overnight outside less than ideal. Generic car cover with good bungies will be fine

I've now got a cap from elsewhere.
my main concern was track day showers, where I want something quick'n'easy for use several times a day.

I suppose that's possible if the TBs stick out the bonnet a way - but feels pretty unlikely.

Yeh, right, exactly how did that happen with water coming down from the top rather than from underneath driving in the rain?
