Caterham Factory Orders - Been Bumped Forward 4 months
Discussion
Hi All,
Had a call from the dealer today...my original build was scheduled for week 40. But apparently a load of French orders have been held due to homologation rules in France...so I had the opportunity (taken!) to bring it forward to week 26
Anyone else had theirs improved?
I had put it out of my mind because I thought it was months away...but now I've got to finalise the spec by 12th April...
S3 or SV...hmmmm!
Cheers all,
J.

SV ! But I'm bias.. No it's still not finished... Seriously though, I had an S3 car (R300) and I found it too small. The SV is a much more sensible sized cockpit, plus more boot space for those weekends away, and a bigger tank, so more miles, and more smiles
Yeah...I hear you! Especially given the erm dimensions of the larger gentlemen, of which I am one framerateuk said:
Sit in one and decide!
I didn't like the SV. Uncomfortable to reach the pedals, gear stick in the wrong place and I rattled around.
S3 fits like a glove.
That's the best advice. The pedals are adjustable though. But saying that, I took mine out to fit a floor mounted pedal box, Caterham's attempt looked like ironmongery! I didn't like the SV. Uncomfortable to reach the pedals, gear stick in the wrong place and I rattled around.

Tillett's will stop you rattling around. The biggest problem for me with the S3 chassis, is bumping shoulders with a passenger.

I spent a good few hours with Ian at Crazy Horse yesterday...and I've decided to go SV and Lowered floors. And changed to black pack! Had a good look at various options too...very useful...so all done. Spec submitted. Waiting commences Tillers will stop you rattling around. Glad you got it sorted. Good choice on the SV IMO . Are you going for leather or Tillett's? I had the Carbon Kevlar Tillett's in my S3 car, much later when I tried the ones they were fitting in the CSR, that also swung it for me on the SV, much more comfy across the shoulders.
So I'll be going for the CSR style Tillett's in my SV, but the question is, will Tillett make me a set in Carbon Kevlar? They don't offer the option on the CSR seats. The gold coloured Kevlar didn't get so hot in the sun, and I live in Spain. I will certainly enquire when the time comes to part with the hard earned.
Here's a picture of them in my old S3 car.

"Held up due to homologation rules in France" sounds weird.
Have the French decided they don't want 60 year old British cars that can't meet type approval? If so, that's going to be more than a temporary headache for Caterham. The thought of a third of a year's sales evaporating into thin air for this year and every year going forward would be truly alarming.
Lets hope they can get to the bottom of it pdq.

Well let's face it, with the new rules regarding the termination of IC vehicle sales in the not too distant future, the writing is on the wall, unless they are looking into alternatives now. Which they certainly need to be pronto.Have the French decided they don't want 60 year old British cars that can't meet type approval? I may have misquoted … but that was the gist. I guess the hope is IC cars will still be able to pass on low volume manufacturers. I wonder if ford etc will be able to provide some sort of crate mild hybrid engine etc. sad to think they might not be able to continue.Have the French decided they don't want 60 year old British cars that can't meet type approval?
