I have the standard oil pressure and temperature gauge for my Superlight R - at least, I think I do - with a switch in one position it shows pressure, in another it shows temperature, on the same gauge.

Except it doesn't - the temp is always non-existent, and the pressure is fluctuation around about nothing - disconcerting, but is basically a faulty sender.

The question is, what is a reliable replacement? I think I'd prefer electrical as it's simpler to route a wire to the cockpit, but suggestions welcomed.....

Spa one? or are there other options now? I don't have to see pressure and temp at the same time.

(I also have a panic light that shines red if it drops too low, but as the sender is so dodgy it's been permanently on ;-))

It's a dry-dumped VHPD engine.

Just check the wiring - I have the same set up on the temp gauge and it works well. Always surprising how long the oil takes to get up to temperature.

Is the op sender screwed directly to the block? If so one approach is to get the remote fitting kit and new sender. Then work out the wiring problem for the temp sender part. That's what I'd do.

The oil sender on a dry sump K series car is usually in the bell tank (near side). The looms had an extra wire installed that was loose under the dash and was routed to the front of the engine bay near where an apollo tank would sit (black / white wire IIRC) I installed a separate new wire to the bell tank.

I was commenting on the oil pressure sender rather than the temp sender.
