Emerald k6 cold start...
Discussion
My 1.8 k series (DVA head, Jenveys, cams etc..) is difficult to start when cold. I've spoken to the previous owner who said it was always difficult starting from cold. It fires when first turned over and it's a case of very gently using the throttle to try and get it to "catch". It starts easily when it's warmed up, even if left for a couple of hours. Assuming it never had the cold start adjustments when originally mapped. Please see attached cold start settings and tell me what you think of the initial injection and cranking enrichment etc...
Thanks

They look pretty much the stock settings for cold start which normally work well, the problem with TBs is that they lack an IACV so dont draw sufficient air to give a great idle when cold, getting the right volume of air is key to good starting, if you dont have enough airflow at idle starting is difficult, too much and the idle soars when the engine is hot.
Try opening the idle screw a little and see if it improves, as a guide for an 1800 each barrel should be drawing around 5.5-5.8 Kgs air at idle.
Make sure the throttle pot is aligned in the software and idle control is turned on.
I haven’t had one yet that didn't start and idle from cold when these adjustments have been made, that is over 300 engines.
