Help with tyre/rim measurements
Discussion
Hi there,
I'm about to try some slicks for the first time (an unexpected gift ), but I'm not sure if they'll fit with the same stock rims I have on my SV 485S. The stocks are 185/55 R13 (front) and 215/55 R13 (rear) and the wheels are the Apollos' (6&8). Is there any way to know for sure if these will fit? S412
Don't know if they will fit under the front cycle wings, or if they will not be stock rims suitable because the different sizes from the stock tyres measures. Totally lost here. Any help would be apreciatted. Thanks!

What sizes are you running?
Pretty sure 20/54's won't fit under your standard front wings, even if they fitted on your 6" wheels (which, I don't think they will).
20/54's fit well on 8" wheels, but you won't fit standard 8" wheels on the front.
We use nominally the the same size Pirelli's (200/540-13) on 7 1/2" MB's but with custom wings and stays.

Thank you all for your answers. I think I'm going to decline the slicks offer and change the 2 rim sets strategy for the ZZR for road and track use first, and if I'm not happy enough... we'll improvise.

...
185/55 R13 (front) and 215/55 R13 (rear) Yes, I also think they would be too big on the front....

Also just checking, you do have a dry sump on the car?
Yes I do, but thanks for bringing that up because it's something to bear in mind when using soft compounds. I am running 20 54 and 24 57 michelin slicks on 7/8.5 rims since several years now.
I also tested my set on a friens 485 last year, the fronts did not fit.
On the front you will need wider wings and at least 7" rims.
On the rear its a very tight fit with standard wings, you can grind off the inside edge on your rear wings and if the car is not to low and the offset off the rim is perfect you can run 24 rears. But its very tight in all directions. I do this since 5 years and it works but when you test it the first time you have to be very carefull to not damage your rear wing. Most people run the 24s with 2" wider wings.

That's a great piece of information, thank you very much sir.I also tested my set on a friens 485 last year, the fronts did not fit.
