Hi,

i got two pre 2003 drive shafts that need a new tin can type outer joint because the threadet end snapped on track days.

I can not find the replacement part. I assume the are standard ford parts, could somebody give me a help from what donnor car they are or maybe even a part numer.

Thanks a lot

Pre 2003 driveshafts are based on Ford Sierra parts, but with shorter shafts.
‘Don’t think the parts are generally available individually.
I understand the pein on can boot kits are now obsolete (and have been for quite a few years!).

Sadly, replacement with the later GKN shafts may be your only option.

Yes the outer joint seems to be impossible to source new.

Is it possible, to put the new gkn joint on my old shafts? I found the gkn number on a old L7 post.

No. The two are not compatible with each other.

Okay thank you.

I now sourced two used sierra driveshafts for 30£ and will use them to rebuild my old ones so i have a spare set.

When searching for a friend last year I found the Sierra boot kits with cans were available at Autodoc (or one of its other website iterations!)
