The rear near side top wishbone cracked at Oulton track day before last. This week at Anglesey my mates csr showed cracking , same unit same place. Have any of the panel had any experience of this.
Luckily it happened at the second chicane so not fast and no other damage but got to say the thought of this happening at somewhere like Cadwell or the Ring fairly rattles my savour-fair.
Oh ,both cars running on ZZR s not slicks but got to say they’re like poo on a blanket.

No direct experience of the CSR, but Caterham wishbones can crack at the brazed joints. It's normally associated with tyre wall impacts where no obvious damage is seen, but the cracks grow and become obvious, or fail, in time.

Top wishbones are prone to cracking and need to be inspected regularly on race cars.

So guys
Is it just common on the top cos I would imagine if the lower cracked it would be worse
But thanks for the info you two
Incidentally the cracks have occurred just before the bend

Definitely more common on the top (although do the CSRs have 'aero' wishbones? No idea if that makes them more or less prone to cracking).

The lower wishbone can fail, but the rose joint is the thing that tends to wear.
