New to Caterham ownership. Got a 2002 1.8 SuperSport (SV).

Steering is quite heavy and doesn't fully self-centre. The UJ connecting the rack and column moves freely along one plane but is notchy along the other.

Stupid questions incoming (if you don't ask you don't learn!):

1. Shouldn't the UJ move completely freely along both planes (no notchiness whatsoever)?

2. Is the UJ a generic part or is it Caterham specific?

Thanks,

Sam

IIRC the UJ part is Rover part and should be smooth and free and self centre easily. Notchy steering can be a problem with the rack, particularly if the car has been in any heavy impacts or accidents.

Thanks. Was working fine. Had tracking done and no longer so happy.

Stripped it last night and the UJ is stiff. Also got a geo setup booked in 2 weeks' time to get that sorted too.

Hopefully be on our way then.
