I'm getting my 7 back on the road after a long(9 1/2 years) spell sat in the corner of a barn.
It's now running and MOTed but the tyres were a little firm .
So as CR500s are no longer current I got the ZZSs. I did contact Caterham to check if the 50 profile v the 45 of the CR500s would be a problem and they said it should be fine.
I've got the Caterham 15"x6.5J 10 spoke wheels front and back. The back is obviously fine but the clearance to the front cycle wings is fag paper distance. I thought there could be a problem between the inner corner of the tyre and the wing stay but that seems to be ok. The issue is the outer edge of the cycle wing (sort of centrally between the wingstay brackets) and the tyre wall. Also the side repeater wiring seems worryingly close to the tyre.
It would seem I need to bend the wingstays a bit to lift the outer edge of the cycle wing. Any ideas on how to do this without buggering up the cycle wings themselves? This would be easy if they were bolted on but they are bonded

With Caterham's "optimistic" speedo reading going to a 50 profile will make it slightly more accurate, certainly what happened in my case but easy to check with a satnav though.
It's also possible to carefully cut back the rubber stub on the back of the repeater a little so it's not quite so close. It tends to point straight at the tyre IIRC.

I did figure the speedo might be less optimistic after the change
I also realised after posting that I didn't check the tyre pressures. I bet they are sky high from being fitted. I'll check them and see if clearance increases when set correctly.
As for as the wings being bonded on not quite right? Maybe... It was factory built for the previous owner.
I seem to remember the clearance not being massive with the CR500s on but until I can get over to my dads and grab my spare wheels(still with 10+ year old CR500s on) I won't be able to check.
I'll see what happens with the tyre pressures and what clearances I end up with. If I do have to tweak them a bit I might take them off first and hold them above the wiring hole in the vice then bend them.
Cheers
