Not been here for a while but I’ve done a lot of thinking about building another 7. My last 7 was a 2L Duratec powered car but I’m now thinking about a bespoke build using an Ecoboost engine.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Gemzoe Motorsport with regard to the Ecoboost engine and wondered if anybody here has used them at all?
I could do another Duratec but well, good as it was, I’ve been there and done that, hence the appeal of doing something slightly different.
Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated thanks.

Have you read the reviews of the Ecoboost-engined prototype that Caterham themselves built, a few years ago?

For example: LINK.

It's fair to say they have been mixed; lots of people don't feel that the broad torque spread suits the otherwise frenetic and driver-involving nature of this sort of car.

Yes I’ve seen that review which, to be honest, doesn’t put me off. This would be my third 7 and I feel I’ve done frenetic with the first 2 so fancy doing it a bit differently this time around.
Gotta be honest, I love torque!

Go with what Dave Gemzoe advises, you'll be in good hands. I totally agree with your argument about doing something new. Even if it turns out to be less than ideal for the Caterham, the challenge and enjoyment will probably out weigh that. Good luck with whatever you do smile

Dave is a good guy and I have found his level of service and expertise first class. Currently run a high powered Duratec and I have also given the Ecoboost conversion some thought - maybe for a softer more road biased package than I currently run. The attention to detail of the Dave's development car is excellent, it's a very neat looking conversion.

That’s good to hear thanks. My last Duratec car was a high powered variant too and I certainly enjoyed that but pleased I’m not the only one who thinks an Ecoboost is worth a go next.
I had thought my many years of 7 ownership were behind me and I’ve moved on to other toys but still I keep thinking about building another.
