Hi!
Is that an useful mod?
https://caterhamparts.co.uk/scuttle-panels/303-ret...
I have the screen fixed only to the scuttle, as picture.

A friend of mine think that is too weak and with the retaing channel will be very much better.

Can't see how it would fit on there from the photos...

It's primary purpose is to allow you to take the screen off quickly (just from one side) - am not convinced having to reach round with a socket is that big an inconvenience in the overall scheme of things.

Strength-wise it may have some benefits (spreading load?) but tbh I'm not sure strength is that big a deal for the screen in its normal fitting - stays upright at 130mph...and any big impact I wouldn't have thought the quick release bracket will help that much.

Ahhh. Can see it more clearly now.

So sits in the channel already there bolted down.

More weight - it's a no from me. The extra convenience not worth it smile

I've not buy!
Maybe I will do by myself in Alu or in carbonfiber if I find a Square pipe that can fit.
Thanks!

They do make the screen a bit more stable, less vibration in the mirror, or if you have a camera fitted to the screen, also makes it a bit safer if you hit something like a pheasant, as it is steel bolted to the chassis rather than just four bolts in to thin aluminium.

That's what I did, I used some galvanised plate maybe 2mm thick, folded a return on it and drilled the two lower fixing holes, bolted it in and then drilled through the outer skin, as I only wanted to stiffen the mounting points, I just used nyloc nuts on the inside, instead of welded nuts.
