Hi.

I’ve just bought a Caterham and it comes with noisy exhaust and a quieter one suitable for trackdays. I’m looking to put the noisy one on, so I don’t waste the packing in the quieter on and because it sounds better.

I assumed the swap would be simple two bolts to undo and then twist/tug it off. I have moved it about 4cm but then the back bracket and tailpipe start to foul the wheel arch and still no sign of the end of the pipe from the cat.

Obviously I don’t want to damage anything so I’m hoping someone can tell me what I’m doing wrong or what the knack is.

Any help greatly appreciated thanks.

You just need to rotate it more until the bracket can clear. A little oil on the joint and work it backwards and forwards and it all should get loose enough to get it by the wheel arch.

That’s what I’ve been doing but run out of space to pull it more?

Rotate the exhaust such that the bracket is pointing down to give you the clearance.
