420r...Is this normal?

Noticed what looks like rust staining when I was trying to sort the radiator out. My first thought was cracked head but everything seems fine, no lack of power, no loss of coolant other than through the small hole in the rad (see separate post) and no over heating. Also, there is no staining on the block. Any ideas of what could be causing this?

My thoughts would be:
- Check the oil isn't emulsified - ie. for a cracked head. But i suspect this is not the case.
- Might be a from rain water / washing the car, through the bonnet vents
- Might be from exhaust gasket leak (not sure how, but just from the location)

Oil is fine. I did wonder if it was from when washing the car but there's nothing metal there, unless the stainless steel used for the exhaust isn't a very high grade?

a) Ring Factory and ask.
b) Do not lose sleep over it.

a) I did, they don't know.
b) I never would, I use my car.
c) Just wanted to know if anyone else has this.
