Does anyone know this car?
Discussion
Hi everyone I have fancied a caterham for a while. I have just kept putting it off but I am getting to the thinking that life is to short.
I don’t know weather to buy one now or wait until March as I can’t see me getting much use out of it over winter.
This one has taken my eye however and I am thinking about going and having a look.

Does anyone know anything about it? I think I have decided on a 310. It will be mainly used as a road car with the odd track day.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply’s. I won’t be taking it on track much will be more of a road car. Sunday morning blats etc. I would try it on track at some point though.
I have never Even driven a Caterham But I can’t see myself being disappointed with one. I worry it won’t be fast enough as it’s only a 1.6 but then I think it’s roughly 300bhp per ton. My Elise was about 200bhp per ton and that was good enough for me.

I got my first one a year ago, I agonised between a newer Sigma and slightly older Duratec.
I went with the Duratec as adding power to Sigma cars is very expensive and like any car geek I new I'd soon get used to the power/want more.....I have a 210bhp and its fast sure, but not crazy. 310 is fine for road and track, and its very quick in corners, but its not that quick.

first thing I'd do is go drive one, go from there.
some think its a car for them but when they get in and drive it, the odd squeak and noises it makes, the feel of just not being seen (or just a feeling of being exposed) and the antiquated feel of them stops them in their tracks.
This is good advice. I would never have bought one without a decent drive and would recommend that to anyone thinking of buying one. I liked the car, despite its shortcomings, have had mine for over 5 years and wouldn’t get rid of it. some think its a car for them but when they get in and drive it, the odd squeak and noises it makes, the feel of just not being seen (or just a feeling of being exposed) and the antiquated feel of them stops them in their tracks.
But it’s for fine weather blats around the countryside and track days. I have done some 100 mile trips but wouldn’t dream of doing a proper long distance tour in it. Having said that mine is 220bhp, 6 speed, sports suspension, composite seat thing. Lower powered, softer suspension, leather seated cars are a different proposition again.
Think what you will need the car for, guess which model will suit best and then drive a few. You then have half a chance of making the right choice!
If you show real interest the Caterham factory will let you drive used stock or you can hire them from Gatwick for a reasonable price for a day.
I started out really wanting a CSR260 (and drove a couple) but at the c. £33k mark that I wanted to spend they weren't in that great condition.
Just go see and drive a few. Brilliant toys.
