Heated windscreen - how quick to demist?

I have a new heated windscreen but I'm not sure if it's working. How quickly should the screen be visibly demisting and would it get warm to touch?

My first screen seemed to take ages, but after it broke and I had a second screen, I realised the first had never worked properly. now misting starts to clear within seconds. You will see clearer lines by the elements when it starts working.

Thanks, sound like a visit back to the workshop then. I didn’t think of testing it when it was installed in summer!
