If you're going to join the L7 Club for their track days, you'll need to spec the trackday roll bar. The standard one doesn't meet their policy requirement.
Thanks, I assume this means the one with the extra cross bracing, rather than a full cage, which is the sport option on the configuarator??Lowered floor seems to be a must for most people. If you're getting doors, I'd get the arm rests too.
I posted the spec I've ordered here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=18...
Mine goes into build in a month...

Don't bother with the cat bypass pipe. (if it's still an option) Makes bugger all difference, unless you are the Stig.
Oh really ?I was about to get one for my 150...
I put the cat back on when I sold the car, and to my surprise, it made bugger all difference.
Make sure you get a 12v socket; used by me for camping bed, sat nav, audio etc etc etc. I really find my heater effective so I drive on days that I may otherwise not do and have never used the heated windscreen.
I'm so envious; I vividly remember configurating (on paper, remember that stuff) my ideal 7 for years while I dreamt of ownership. The sense of anticipation was both exhilarating and frustrating

I have spent a long time pouring over the online configurator as well. I kind of have a spec in mind, even though it changes regularly, I just wanted peoples opinions on the little bits, like the 12v socket.I'm so envious; I vividly remember configurating (on paper, remember that stuff) my ideal 7 for years while I dreamt of ownership. Thanks.
How much is the 12v socket? I fitted my own, straight to the battery so I can use it for charging, for about a tenner.
I think the TD roll bar is standard on a 420.
I fitted a bypass on my R400, 220hp. I think it might be a tiny bit louder but it’s only a suspicion and I can’t say it performs any different. Main reason I fitted it was that I wasn’t comfortable with all the pops and bangs going on in the cat. There’s a school of thought that it’s damaging. A new cat costs a lot more than the BP.

Have Cats gotten expensive then? A new cat for my R300 back in 2004 I think it was... was 300 quid. Cat bypass pipe option, 300 quid.I think the TD roll bar is standard on a 420.

The 12V socket is standard on both the S and R packs.
The track day roll bar isn't standard at all, it's a £195 option.
Yes, so it is. As I recall it was standard on my 400 in 2015 but maybe not. At the end of the day the car cost an awful lot more than it’s basic list, a couple of hundred wasn’t significant, in the scheme of things!! The track day roll bar isn't standard at all, it's a £195 option.
I remember my Dad picking up the Caterham order form at the Motor Show in the 80’s on photocopied paper, I spent hours as a 14yo poring over the specs. Alas other things in life got in the way and he never got round to buying one.
Would be interested in seeing your finished article OP.

Ain't that the truth. I think the options on mine total over £8k (although that does include factory buld).Edited by Gulf7 on Friday 6th September 07:04

Floors, SV, 6 speed, aero + weather kit, dry sump, 13” wheels, special paint........
I built mine myself though, so that saved a lot
