exclusively caterham?
Discussion
Thanks to all the responses to my last thread regarding the purchase of my first 7. All your knowledge and passion for the marque is clear and has been very helpfull.
Does raise another question though.....
Are you all Caterham diehards here or do you share my passion for 'interesting' cars in general. Wandered onto the Ariel posts after checking this out

Must say, there does seem to be a little of 'mines better than yours' attitude floating around, reminds me of school yard playsation v xbox banter...
Surely a good car is a good car regardless of who makes it?
Cheers JC

I beleive I have a passion for nice cars but the link you provided isn't one IMHO, if it was a later Honda powered item then maybe, I've driven a 225 BHP item and they're mental, but the early K powered items seemed pretty hopeless whenever I came across them on track.
The latest std Atom is I suspect overall a faster car but certainly less forgiving at the limit and to me generally gave less feedback, I'm not saying a Caterham is 'better' although I would say it's easier to drive

Also, there aren't many cars around that a Caterham can gloat is less practical than his/her own.
Never driven an Atom. Was tempted to try one when they were first mentioned (even sent them an email). But realised that the Caterham is plenty quick and mad enough, and is a true old war horse.
I also prefer the way the 7 looks.
When you buy a car as extreme and "niche" as a 7, you will find yourself engaged in plenty of debate about other marques. And people can sometimes get very heated about it to.
Sad really.

Guys
I'm sure you'll agree, we should all consider ourselves very lucky to have such diverse choice in the UK, and be thankfull that there are companies out there that will build cars such as the Atom.
Personally, I think it's a bit too extreme and takes the 'not very practical' argument to another level. I have to say I see the 7 as a class-less car that all admire, have a faint suspicion you may look a bit of a tw*t driving an Ariel down the high street?

Drove a 'K' Atom on track, didnt think much too it really, which suprised me thought id love it.
Also drove a 7, nowt too exotic just an ex roadsport racer, for me it was a diferent league, just so much nicer to drive in every respect, felt lke an extention of my hands, Atom felt like it wanted to kill me
Atom does look ace tho.
