Hi Guys,

Can anyone advise whether my standard, with Cat, SLR is likely to be ok for a 98db drive by trackday at Donnington?

I know there is a similar post below for an R400 but I wonder if the induction roar differs without throttle bodies.

Many thanks

Simon

Do you have the standard silencer as well? If so, how old is it (they tend to get loader over time)?

My (standard) SLR without cats was marginal on the drive by about 18 months ago: I had to short shift past the noise meter.

I was last there about a year ago with a Raceco silencer and don't remember having problems.

I can't help on the definative answer here but I would have thought it doubtful.

Couple of reasons, firstly you have got throttle boddies on an SLR, yes they're butterfly throttles not the roller barells as on my R400 but when wide open there's no real differance.

Secondly the standard SLR silencer is even worse than the standard R400 one, and I was at 101.9 with the cat in, that's not close, it's way over.

Thirdly, you now can't short shift past the noise meter at the pit lane entrance any more, that's what I used to do, but now they've got 3 meters round the circuit and they're linked directly to the council.

ergo, I'm getting a Raceco on my R400 and looking into an airbox and remote filter, but that's £££.

Stupid isn't it!!
