Replacing fuel pipe
Discussion
I'm replacing the old rubber fuel pipe on my car as its split. I've bought a length of steel braided ptfe pipe but I seem to be having issues getting the 2 ends to seal. Both simply slide over a fixed copper pipe (tank and engine) as the old one did but I can't get it to be a strong enough junction with the clip (looks like a stock jubilee clip to me but they will be the originals from the factory).
The ptfe centre seems stiffer than the rubber and it only just slides over the copper pipe. Should I :
use something else
Strip the braid off for a few cm and fit the clip to the ptfe only
Fit some sort of or O ring or similar to make a seal
or
something else?
All suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks
