Hi, does anyone know if there are any tuning options for the Suzuki engined caterham 7 160.

I believe the engine is denoted K6A but googling hasn't really helped.

90-100 bhp would be ideal, but also the added sounds and boosty noises would add massively to the experience. But don't want anything that harms reliability or causes fuelling or knock issues.

Thanks.

Googling Suzuki k6a tuning seems to have some results....

I dont have a 160 (or a Caterham) but I am tempted by a 160 just for the tuning fun. The K6a is a great engine but not quite as well supported as the older F6a

Anyways, they take well to a turbo change along with new injectors, this along with suitable management would see pretty solid increases. Likewise the intercooler should be looked at but I dont know what the setup is like on the 160.

Again, Im not up to speed with the 160 but the airbox setup on a standard K6a is very restrictive and this might be a relatively simple area to improve yourself along with some boost control. I also read on the Caterham forum that a MAF change helps but Ive never tried myself.

If you dig around online there are turbo options, I cant remember exactly but the GT12 turbo springs to mind as an upgrade.

In terms of noise, depending on the intake pipework setup on the 160, that should be the first port of call. I change the standard pipework with a simple 50mm bend on my Alto works along with a blow off valve and the noise was superb, the turbo whistle was quite loud and hugely fun.

Sorry, not much help but I did dabble with a K6a for a while, great little engine.

Anybody got any further with this?
Am assuming that the intake and exhaust were sorted out the box by Caterham given its running 80bhp.
I know the Sprints were running 95hp but there are no details of what was done - was it just more boost, just an ECU remap, both, new engine internals?

Have a friend in France with a 165 (our 160) looking to push a bit more out of the engine but doesn't know where to start. Any ideas?
