Alright mouth no need to rub it in
Just been on the phone to Craig.
Any thoughts on this?

Had been looking at something more powerful. Not had Caterham before but last lightweight was a 265 Exige.
I would however be using this for road, maybe 2 TD's maximum.

Squeezing more power out of that 1.6 will be costly. You can get them up to 200ish, but it costs a lot of money. If you're at all worried about the amount of power, try and get something already done or with a bigger engine.
SV is the wide one, so good for a fat lad.
Great cars, so much fun.

Caterham's official figures for the 140 in Supersport spec (with the aeroscreen) were 4.9 seconds as far as I remember.
I've never ever bothered to time mine, but on a dry day with warm tyres that sounds about right! I think you can safely say "around 5".
The 0-30 part is brilliant though.

Going have a trip down and have a proper look and drive
I'd love a quicker one but unfortunately I'm tied on budget as on the verge of a house purchase so needs to be sub 25k.
Certainly wouldn't be modding it. I generally only keep cars a year so it would see maybe 5000 miles and then I'll likely be back in a Lotus.

Have you considered a Westfield?
I know there is a lot of debate and rivalry between owners of each marque, but you could buy a faster Westfield for the same money.
That's like buying Nylon underpants instead of cotton I know there is a lot of debate and rivalry between owners of each marque, but you could buy a faster Westfield for the same money.

A bit nose heavy though.
My 2 penneth,
I own two caterhams, a 1.8l 185 ish bhp K series 5 speed with tractive suspension and 2L duratec 270bhp 6 speed.
Both are used on the road and occasionally on the track. The more power on the road is not better. I love the 185bhp car, smiles alll around and I feel I can push it and the wet it is slightly forgiving, Not much but a wee bit. On the other hand the 270bhp will give me scared smiles and giggles that I can't control. I don't know which one I prefer, but for every day use the185 bhp.

180bhp Supersport R/ 360 R is probably the sweetspot for Road v Track.
