I see there is an alternative Caterham Club in the UK. www.caterhamowners.club

I'm guessing that many of the folks in that club are X Blatchat members. The annual membership fees look a little expensive, anyone on here a member and if so is it a vibrant non abusive club unlike Blatchat.

Interested on why you have such a negative view on L7 Club (Blatchat), as I find it quite helpful and benign....

Plenty of Caterham related groups on FB.

Heard from several people including my own observations from the posts I’ve read that some of the main contributors are borderline abusive.

Many years ago there was probably some truth in that but the perps were sorted out and a particular large one now runs a Facebook group. BC is now extremely friendly, a great site with a wealth of knowledge available. I would highly recommend it.

I hhadn't heard of the club you provided the link for, it states that it has no links with Caterham? I also don't understand the difference between free membership as "Enthusiast" but "Owners" membership is £30 one time and then £30 pa? At least with Lotus 7 Club you get a monthly magazine included with the annual fee.

Ive seen the owners club, but it didnt look that great tbh.

Im still unsure if L7C is actually worth the £50/year tbh....

Arnies FB pages do the same thing, less a magazine , for nowt....

Happy to be put right tho....

I joined the L7C in 2015, after completing my build. (Sufffolk/Norfolk Carrotcrunchers) Never had a moment’s regret.

I get to most of the monthly regional meets, which are well attended (15-20 cars mostly, sometimes more) and have made some real friends there. The many blats and events are usually good (mid month pub dinner meets, Xmas meals etc) and well attended.

Blatchat is useful too, never noticed any of the negative stuff, probably before I joined. Tech talk is especially useful IMO.

I can usually get at least some of my subscription back from the Halfords discount arrangement so don’t find it too expensive.

As it happens, someone on Blatchat was asking about the caterham owners club. The site is owned by http://autocrowdgroup.com/ and at first sight looks like a way to part enthusiasts from their cash. There's also a http://morganowners.club/ too which looks pretty similar. On the off chance I tried the aston martin owners club and what do you know?

I don't see that as being particularly useful. Considering Halfords prices are normally 50% more than my local motor factors with a lot less knowledge.

Depends what you’re buying I guess. They’re pretty competitive on many tools, car cleaning stuff and bikes.

I can’t imagine what I’d need their knowledge for, nor my local motor factor’s for that matter.

In any case, there’s a huge list of suppliers who offer club members discount, not just them.

Latest post is dated in June 2014. I wonder how many £30’s they get every year for a non maintained website?

My impression too - looks like a massive scam.

My 2p - BC has it's place, as does the FaceBook group trio (triad? triumvirate?). Every group has dicks. For the best example, I cite PH...

Have a beard and like ale. BC. What accurate technical advice, either. Want to discuss wild modifications of your Seven, or have lighthearted banter, FB. Want to be parted from your cash swiftly for no return? COC. Or just send me £30 and I'll promise never to contact you again.

I do miss the old FB group to be fair, but rules is rules... I'll start saving.

Nothing. I sold my Caterham. Rule is you have to be an owner, or a prospective owner. Seems quite harsh, but actually keeps the group on point. Hence the "start saving".
