Easy. The first one. Premier power are very well respected engine builders. I would love to let them loose with the Sigma engine in my car. You are looking at over 7k for the conversion that car has had!

Agreed, the first one is the best of the 3 you've linked to.

Im hearing rumours that the top car has had accident damage/repairs, so Im not so sure....

The car at Millwood looks much nicer aesthetically to me, and is only marginally down on power....

This one....

It’s definitely worth investigating if the accident claims are correct. If it is recorded, then that will almost certainly affect the value of the car. If it has sustained any chassis damage, but it’s been repaired by Arch, then the repair should be as good as new, so I wouldn’t let that bother me too much.

As for the asththetics, it’s only really a black pack and nose band between them. Both relatively easy things to do and it gets you started on the enevitable upgrading path!

Providing it stacks up, I still stand by the first, premier power upgraded one being the one to go for. Probably the best thing would be to go and view them both.

It might be worth having a chat with Simon at meteor motorsport, he had a nice SV for sale (it had lots of tasty bits on it which he was removing to reduce the car cost)

Cheers, Im going to Millwood on Thursday and have the rest of the week off...

This will be a dream car for me, that Ive wanted for over 15 years, so to say IM excited is a huge understatement....

I’d give the chaps at gp sevens a ring and get the low down. They are extremely helpful and will give you an honest answer.

The R500 at Millwood looks fabulous! So nice to see one in BRG rather than a modern lairy colour with go-faster stripes.

(I know it's not the car the OP is looking at).

If anyone's interested in that R500, it's my friend's old car which I've known since new and it's an absolute beauty!

Hi,

Correct yes the first car has had accident damage but the chassis was repaired by arch motors who do all the caterham chassis repairs. I find it hard to understand why this car is so cheap, yet the owner has been honest and told the truth about its history.

Buying a Caterham that's had an accident isn't as bad as buying a normal car that's had a accident. Generally all chassis the repairs are carried out by Arch whos work is excellent and you wouldn't know the difference between this and a non crashed car. I wouldn't worry. Most people are more than happy to buy an ex race car without worrying about it's history.

Hi Stuart, I spoke to Damian @ GP7s and he was very opne and honest about the whole situation with the car. TBH, if this wasny my very first Caterham, I d probably snap his hands off, as I have a good idea just how much was spent on the engine alone.

But I need to keep close to vanilla for my first taste of 7 ownership....

Sadly the whole Cat D stigma definitely applies to Caterhams. I bought one without even worrying about it. The price was good, but not super cheap. The car had been rebuilt from a new replacement chassis, so was in fantastic condition. That was all good for me, But selling it was a complete pain in the backside. I got so fed up in the end, it went at a low price just to get rid. So there are a few buyers who don't mind the cat D, but they are actually few and far between. I don't regret it, it was a great car, which probably cost me about 3k more than it should in the end.

You pays yer money...

If that's the case, try an R300 at Millwood while you're there. Reading the adverts, it sounds like the blue R300 has all the track gear and the text is duplicated on the black/green one. Jon is a great guy to deal with. There's a reason people buy, then trade back to him for a second and third car.

The spec on the blue and green car is perfect. I agree with the colour scheme though....
Are you on the Facebook Caterham - Marketplace group? There are regularly great cars for sale on there, including the one described below. Slightly lower spec than the others however, for the price you cant go wrong.

After 6 years of ownership, I am selling my 2008 Caterham 7 S3 Roadsport. I have spent the last few months tirelessly restoring this car back to mint condition and it has just returned from TSK with a full body respray and I have not been out on the roads yet so there isn’t a stonechip anywhere on the bodywork. This is a rare opportunity to own an as new example and would make a perfect first Caterham for someone. Any questions, please get in touch.

The full spec is as follows:

2008 Caterham 7 Sigma 125 Roadsport
1.6 Sigma Engine
7800 miles
Kawasaki Green
MOT - April 2019
2 previous owners, I have owned the car since 2012
Standard 5 speed Ford type 9 gearbox
Tillet Seats
Carbon Dash
Brand new Caterham belts
Lowered floor on both sides
Long cockpit
FIA bar
Genuine Caterham rubber mats
5.75 inch lowered headlights
Push button starter
Aero ignition switch
Immobiliser
Full Weather Kit (full doors and hood)
Black pack (windscreen and headlamps)
Later style BMW differential
Titanium 7 Grille
Brand new Yokohama A548 Tyres
Standard Track Suspension with Bilstein dampers all round
New Apollo Black Alloys with silver rims
This car has immaculate, unmarked bodywork. It had a number of stone chips picked up over the last 10 years so in July 2018 it had a full body respray at TSK in Dartford and had 4 brand new black fibreglass wings fitted.

£15k, but think you could negotiate for a quick sale. Looks in amazing condition.

I like the Millwood car (I got mine from them - Jon is great) as it's Sigma and has an easy power upgrade installed.
