Help - Clutch for K-Series with Type 9
Discussion
Hi all, I’m looking for some help/knowledge. I have a 1.6K 2001 MegaGrad with a Type 9 gearbox, straight cut tran x internals. It currently runs an AP paddle clutch. The car is 50% road 50% Trackday’s, no race use.
Ive broken 4th gear syncro (twice!) and have been advised by two different specialists that one improvement I could make is to fit a less severe road clutch.
Currently Caterham and anyone else I rang had no road clutches in stock with AP unable to give them a supply date.
I’m getting back to Burton Power tomorrow with a few measurements of my current clutch setup but if anyone can advise me if I just need a particular Rover clutch or if any part of it would be ford related etc then your input would be greatly appreciated.

Call McMillan Motorsport who sourced the MegaGrad upgrade originally and can advise - they certainly have the most experience of this spec. There were several iterations of best practice for the gearbox although I have to say that they are relatively fragile, at least in race cars.
Phil at Road and Race Transmission near Tonbridge would be your second best bet.

I ended up with helix sorting me out, quite pleased with how easy they made it and the fact it was available for me!
I had tried McMillan etc with no joy, not their fault, moreso the supply from AP is the problem. Phil at road and race has been very helpful in the past but I can never seem to get through to his phone line easily unfortunately! (Gladly going to call on his services when I am due for an LSD upgrade tho, top guy!)
