Hi I'm Treasurer of my local Rotary Club and for the last 7 years we have been involved in the 'Sevens for Schools' project https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Where we have bought the car as a kit from Caterham and given it to our local technical college for it to be built by their students.

Unfortunately Caterham have stopped the project and where we would normally return the completed car to Caterham, for a new kit, we find that this isn't an option on this our 4th car.

Can anyone recommend how we establish a realistic price for the car and other than obviously this site, is there anywhere else you would recommend selling the car, for instance should we join the Caterham Owners Club and advertise there ?

The 270 kit now costs £22k for the car, plus £3.5k for the 'S' pack

Thanks in anticipation of your assistance

It'll be a shame if CC have stopped the scheme. PR doesn't seem to be high on their priority list lately.

Anyway, places to advertise - here or the Facebook Owners Group pages are a good start. Christian may spot this and drop you a line as you need his blessing to join. I'm sure a member (maybe even me) will put a pointer to your car on the lotus 7 club given the circumstances. You could also approach one of the independent dealers like PT, Seven & Classics or Chapman to sell it for you on a commission basis. Value-wise, not sure. As an unregistered un-IVA'd and unchecked car there's obviously some risk in buying it but it could be an attractive option to a new kit. Hopefully someone who's bought a schools car before will be along to assist. Best of luck with it and well done for such a noble cause.

Thanks for your help and positive comments smile

The car will be IVA'd, we just intended to wait until we had a buyer, so they would go down as the first owner.

There is also an extensive photographic build log.

Apart from selling direct, can you not do a charity raffle and sell 3000 tickets at £10 ?

Maybe through the schools PTA + other local schools on top of your contacts ?

Don’t know how feasible that would be !

IVA and registration are separate processes - IVA has no bearing on the owner. I'd recommend getting it booked in for post build check and IVA asap - we're seeing an increase in lead time for IVA appointments at the moment, and from date of application to receiving a V5 could take a couple of months.
