Superlight - owners and past owners
Discussion
Hello,
Just a quick call out to owners or previous owners of the Superlight .
I would love to know what number your Superlight is/was. how many owners, what options were fitted by the factory and what has been changed and why, what type of wheels, tyres and roll bar . Anything you would change ?
I'm a new owner of this iconic 7 and interested to learn about the car.
Many thanks
Jonathan

I used to own Superlight No 157 though by the time I bought it, it had been extensively upgraded and was identical to an R300. I then further upgraded it with a stronger engine, dry sump oil system and numerous other bits.
Have you seen the Superlight Register?

Cheers Andrew, Have you seen the Superlight Register?
Yes I've seen "The Register" ... is this still an active site ? Would be good to know what the spec the cars are.
I had the original Superlight..... Car No 8. From brand new. Ordered it on the day the review came in Autocar and took delivery in Feb 1997. The spec was exactly as the Superlight should be. No extra add-ons or anything.... cost £21k.
It got in a right mess when I went through a divorce and had no interest in visiting the ex-wifes house (mine as well) to clean the car, work on it, or just plain use it. All the chassis started to rot, and the powder coating stated to flake away from rust underneath. It basically didn't run for 4-5 years.
Sold it on a few years back (basically gave it away) to a friend who spent the time on it and sold it on, i think. Must have needed at least £3-4K to get back into mint condition.
Unsuprisingly it was the best Caterham i've ever driven, and i've had and raced a few!

Hi Stu, yes seen the reply on BC. Thanks ! :-)
Interesting to hear about 006, by the looks of it, it had the low back plastic seats . I met the owner of 008 who has had his from new.
It's great to hear people think it's one of the best 7's they've owned.
I've just got mine back from BOSS and is number 007.

I have Superlight number 106. In my opinion the Superlights are a real sweet spot for 7’s. I have a blog at https://caterhamsuperlight106.wordpress.com which tells the story of 106.
