The torque bias diffs require both wheels to have some grip (torque) to maintain the LSD action. So if you run an ATB diff with a stiff settings, it is likely to be less effective.
IMHO I think you really need a plate diff if your aim is to spin wheels, or drift the rear of the car. ATB diffs work best when using them up to the limits of grip. They become less predictable when deliberately breaking traction.
