Steering wheel drilling ... help?

This weekend is set aside for much swearing and sweating as I attempt the apparently simple job of replacing the tired momo on the Seven with a new, undrilled one.

It's going onto a Lifeline QR boss. I think I have all the info I need re templates, and I know that the 3 bolts are standard Caterham M6 countersunk affairs.

Poured over the forums, and the one bit of info I can't find, is what spec of drill bits I need to buy both for the main holes and the countersinking.

Surely someone can answer this one pretty fast?

I've drilled 2 in my time and don't recall using any specific drill other than the appropriate size for metal, but I would recommend using a pillar drill or drill stand to ensure each hole is perfectly perpendicular.

thanks! ... it's the countersinking I am not sure about ... I didn't pay enough attention in woodwork classes.

Countersink a bit, try the bolt head in the hole, adjust as necessary. If using a pillar drill, you could probably lock off the drill at this depth for the other two.

Countersinks come in different angles. You'll need to match the bolt head.

This 100%. Countersinking results in a weakened mount and you can't countersink with a drill, the angle's all wrong. Drills are typically close to 120 degrees and c/s bolts 90 degrees, inclusive.
