I've just come across a very nice looking Caterham on Ebay. I don't know if it's permitted to post links here, but if not, the car is easy to find. Unfortunately, the car in question is outside my price range, so this question is somewhat hypothetical.

On paper, everything about the car looks great except that, according to the seller, at some point in its past, it was categorised as a 'Cat C' insurance write-off. I've come across a few 'Cat C' Caterhams recently, and I'm wondering how much this matters. I'm not really concerned about the car's structural integrity as long as it was repaired properly. However, I am a bit concerned about what effect the car's Cat C status is likely to have on its resale value, and whether it would potentially make it harder and/or more expensive to insure.

Actually, insurance is an aspect of Seven ownership that I haven't really considered, and maybe I should. Are these cars difficult and/or expensive to insure?

Thanks

If it was re chassised by Arch, it'll be fine. But resale wise you should expect a big hit. Which is probably why it's so cheap on eBay....

re. insurance

Depending on your age and points but I'm in my 40's no points and limited to 3000 miles and i think the cost is £130. They don't take NCB into consideration .
