Evening All,
Sadly being able to afford my own Caterham is a way off with an extension to fund and another baby on the way.

To scratch the itch in the meantime however I'm hiring a 270S from Caterham South in the middle of September. I don't live too close to there and I'd rather not waste half the day on the M25 getting back to 'home turf'.

Are there any must-hit B-Roads around there I'd be stupid to miss? Or any light and camera infested roads I should seek to avoid?

I'm not looking for any silly sideways action and clearly weather will have a big impact on the day, but any local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

A272, particularly the stretch from Petworth to Midhurst. A285 is pretty good to Chichester. Honestly though, wherever you end up you'll have fun.

Don't kid yourself into thinking renting scratches the itch - we ended up buying one 4 months after renting one for a weekend. I knew I was in trouble when I uttered "I need one of these" less than 5 miles from picking up the rental.

Haha, thank you!

I drove one a few years ago on a Jonathan Palmer day so I'm not for a second kidding myself that renting will 'cure' the itch, just looking for a temporary 'scratch'. That or just looking to make sure it's definitely worth the likely divorce when I inevitably come home with one before Xmas.

Anywhere on the A272, but watch out for bikes, they use it all the time, and the A32 down to Wickham, from the West Meon x roads, then left up to Portsdown Hill and the burger van in the car park.

If your down near Goodwood, Chichester, Selsey Bill, Bognor, around midday do look out for the 40 or so Spitfires and Hurriicans assembling for a Battle of Britain tribute. They start around 12 from Goodwood.

Bloody awful! At the end of the day I had to give it back!

Fantastic fun, headed down to Chichester and back, largely on the A272 on the way there, whatever looked traffic free on the way back.

Incredible how much fun you can have in a 1.6. Absolutely smitten, there's no doubt that I'll be getting one one day, but sadly budget's a little too tight at the moment. Think a couple more hire days will be in order in the meantime.
