Max revs for a Caterham 1.6k series
Discussion
Hope you can help. New to this site. Plus to Caterhams. Just purchased a Superlight 1.6L Rover K Series engine. It has had a few Mods .
1. QED upgrade Kit - Current equivalent is the Fast Road Kit which i gather means better cam, air intakes/throttle bodies etc
2. Dry sump
3. Lightened flywhee
4. New engine management system.
Its been tested to produce 156 bhp. Will be used for track days, however I also have heard that the K Series engine does not like been overrevved. So anyone have experience of what the optimal max would be before issues occur?
Much appreciated.

I have a bucketful of Pistons taken from super sports which have broken across the ring lands. The 7600 limit on the supersport engine is too high and track going versions have forged Pistons fitted to prevent engine destruction. I would not push a 1600K with stock Pistons past 7200. You might be lucky, you might not.

Thanks for the replies. Normally keep it to max 6k revs, odd occasion upto 7. However came back from a run today and appear to have a leak top end of the block left had side. So suspect a gasket issue. Only just been serviced so would have been picked up. Last track day must have caused an issue.
