I have booked a day hire from Caterham Gatwick, just to make sure on my car choice! I'm taking the kids and wife, and propose to do a number of circuits and then change the passenger so they all get a feel. Does anyone have any ideas for where to base the blats near their office (pub/ coffee place etc) and any suggested routes? I don't know that area very well apart from the B road that James @ Caterham took me on last week. Look forward to your suggestions, and of course getting out in that 7! Thanks.

I can sort one out for you, I'll look on a map to make sure I have the route right, though essentially you need to head out to Three Bridges (to the Balcombe Road), head south towards ???? Turn right just after the Cowdray Arms, take the most awesome road to Handcross, turn right at tee junction towards Peas Pottage, take A23 (I think) back to Crawley.

Most of the above is wrong (name wise) but the route is right and takes in some excellent 7 roads!

I'll see if I can put a better description or route map up later.

Chris

Almost forgot...Cowdray Arms for lunch is Good I think?

Thanks very much, appreciate it. I'm like a 44 year old kid waiting for Christmas, the misses is already getting wound up and I haven't bought it yet! Look forward to the map.

Do it clockwise, ie leave the A23 bit to the last!

I have the same day coming up - can't wait too.

I'll be heading towards Forest Row, then over to Groombridge, Penshurst, Hever and Edenbridge before making my way back.

I go cycling on these roads so I know them very well. I'd rather go on roads I know that keep looking on a map.

The Ashdown Forest isn't too far away too which is lovely.

I'd suggest you carry on until the Turners Hill Road on the B2110 rather than turning onto the Balcombe Road - I used to live on Balcombe Road (beyond Maidenbower) its very dull, straight and busy.

If you end up with the Blue Roadsport 125 (Reg ends HBF) - say hi from me, the kids named it Cameron last year when we had him for a day. smile

Thanks very much for that, I seriously can not wait for my first "Full" drive with a 7, hopefully it will keep me going until I can buy mine in a few weeks time! Interested as to where Cameron came from - or was that the closest to Caterham! My kids are bugging me as to who will get the first seat, its helping with the normal "best behaved" bribes... I thought they only ran 140 roadsports now - I hope that is what it will be, as I want to make sure that my decision on engine size will be correct.

Thanks again to everyone, keep the ideas coming!

Yeah it was just because phonetically it was close to Caterham - I have a green one now and its called Kermit laugh (very recent purchase actually woohoo )

I was in the showroom a few weeks ago and Cameron had a bit of masking tape on the windscreen saying "On Hire - Saturday".....

You'll love it - my kids took it in turns - the eldest came with me to pick "him" up, the youngest when we dropped "him" back and both had extensive blats on the day.....

Ahh, reminds me of the old days. Booked a test drive, turned up, first thing saturday am at the top of the hill in my company MX5. Peter Haynes was just opening up. Threw me the keys to a dayglo yellow 1.4ss, said come back later and don't crash it. So off I went and I still remember it as one of the best motoring experiences I've done. Came back after a couple of hours, said thanks and trundled off in what had seemed like a sports car, but was definitely a lumbering pudding!

Have fun!

Me too - we had that same car for a weekend last summer. Although it was called Charlie back then. Couldn't help but think of Charlie the Unicorn (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5im0Ssyyus)

Kind of appropriate - the "They took my freaking kidneys" roughly equates to Caterham taking several grand off me a few months later as we purchased our own seven!

Well to be honest Bert, they still do exactly that, you just need to throw them £175.00, And then throw them £300 deposit, and then throw them the signed "I won't drive fast, and will be totally sensible, and then throw them your clean license....
Oh and promise that ( this is serious item 12 in the t&c), that your not a student, professional entertainer and that your not a Jockey!!!! Too many horses to control I guess!

Alas the link for the route has expired - could you repost please? or is there a location with the recommended routes already?

Thanks!
