Caterham gears up for massive festival
Brands to smell of burning tyre rubber
Caterham is gearing up for its one-make festival on 9/10 October, with a day spent trying -- but failing -- to break the doughnut record. Set in a Caterham Superlight R500 by Alistair Weaver, the record stands at 22 doughnuts in the space of a minute within a circle measuring twice the length of the car. According to Caterham, it demands "a light, read-drive car, limited slip diff and ludicrous amounts of power."
The record still stands, as Monday this week saw the editor of Nuts magazine, which sponsors Caterham, make a highly creditable effort in the paddock at Brands Hatch, but his maximum of 20 was not quite enough. Your intrepid reporter quite distinctly overheard mutterings about how the record-holder maybe didn't stick to the rules.
However, the Caterham Festival, also to be held at Brands, offers another opportunity for attendees to have a go. More details are in our story here.
