Hi All,

I just moved to Bristol and bought a mega-grad spec car. I'm using it as a track toy and doing a few road miles.

I need some mechanic support for general maintenance and adjusting car set-up. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Mike

Millwood Motors is only 40 minutes away from Bristol and is a Caterham dealer.

Although I am sure there are some good independents down your way as well

Thanks, yes I had seen them....have you used them?....I'm sure they are good for anything "road" but how about track set-up etc?....also any ideas on how they price relative to independents?

Sorry Mike but I am at the other side of the country.
I used DPR Motorsport in Surrey who I can recommend but obviously a bit far for you.

Truth be told, Caterhams are about as simple a car as it's possible to build these days, so any competent mechanic will be just fine - in fact there's no excuse for not learning to do it yourself.

If you're looking for someone sympathetic to lightweight cars though, and you're willing to travel to Millwood at Cam, you may also wish to consider May Lane Motors just up the road at Dursley. The proprietor is a thoroughly decent and straightforward guy do deal with and dabbles in historic racing cars - he owns and races an Elan 26R himself and helps out with a nearby company called Retro Track and Air, who work on old racing cars and warbird engines.

I'd expect him to be cheaper than Millwood, too!

I'm in Cheltenham and I take mine to Neil Garner in Kemble nr Cirencester. Really good for race track set-ups. Check out his website. http://www.neilgarner.co.uk/ They set-up my suspension geometry, spring and damper settings. Totally transformed it.

For geometry type stuff Dave at Track Developments out by Castle Combe is worth a visit and has a good pedigree to back his services up (worked with/for Yvan Muller). He does a variety of other things too.
