If you're buying a Sigma engine car, the 12v socket is located between the seats, which is not particularly useful and came as a surprise (I assumed it would be under the dash, silly me). Caterham told me this is to do with the wiring loom. Not sure about other engines/looms, worth asking them.
Had the same dilemma when I spec'd mine. I decided for the sake of £100 I'd regret it if I didnt spec the 12V socket then found I needed it.
For me the quick release steering wheel was a no brainer, partly for security but mainly to make getting in snd out easier. Think that was £150 which I thought was reasonable.

I think that Caterham fit the socket on the rear bulkhead which is not a convenient place. You can add a 12v socket yourself for less than £10 and position it where you want. I personally think the dashboard in front of the passenger is best.
As regards removable steering wheel, I'd fit the Rapfix one. It is not the standard Caterham fitment, but is far superior, with no play. See:- http://www.plays-kool.co.uk/acatalog/WorksBell.htm...

Thanks for all your thoughts, very helpful.
That aftermarket quick release looks good, I think that's the way to go, i'll leave it for now and possibly upgrade to this later on.
With regards to the 12v socket, I don't really mind where it's located as I can't see myself using it for anything other than battery charging and tyre inflation but for this, as standard from the factory, would it be a continuosly live feed or would I need to leave the ignition on? I'm not too good with electrical stuff, i'm thinking I might spec it.
Cheers

Hi,
Also have recent build Sigma, the socket does sit on the rear bulkhead & seems fine day to day. It is permanently live & has been useful for a conditioner over the winter. The wiring is a little exposed on the other side of the bulkhead & probably needs a bit of protection.
The detachable wheel is a godsend for stiff, lardy 50 year olds, I don't have a lowered floor so it does obstruct the speedo & L indicator flasher to some degree. I think it is a slightly smaller diameter than the other type hence the problem.
