I wonder which bright spark thought that one up? It looks like an 80's Leyland badge. frown
Picture nicked from BC.

I'm not sure whether to hurl or just vomit

Did someone get paid to come up with that?

I like it. Forward looking. As long as the car's are still bang on, who cares about the badge - it's not hideous is it!

I wouldn't want that crap adorning my car. I think I'll get a spare one of the one I've got while they're still available.

It's only a badge, but it's the cars identity.
Imagine Jaguar dropping the cat, or Aston Martin loosing the wings? Sacrilege!

Sorry, but I don't think the 7 badge is as iconic as the monikers you mention. Perhaps to long term enthusiasts of the marque, but not to me at 31 yrs old! I agree however, that your badge looks good wink

I don't believe it's as bad as some folk are saying - I think more they're rebelling from what they have come to know & love, like someone replaced their favourite old pair of comfy slippers with a new fashion pair...

2p - I wouldn't puke over it, but it's pretty nondescript in comparison to the circular traditional badges and certainly doesn't jump out at you with any style or difference... It's rather darned boring if I do say and absolutely not in line with a seven at all.

I guess I'm an old dinasour who's going to be left behind by the corporate boys.
I like my comfy old slippers. smile
I like my nice hand made Arch chassis too. I won't ever buy another new Caterham, I'll buy a real one second hand and restore in future.
I don't like the direction Caterham have gone since Mr. Ansar Ali took over the reins, it's all Twitter Mug Book BS. He sold us out to Malasian ownership too. frown
Still, I'll be proud to display these on my car, as it was british owned when I bought my lovely Arch chassis, and most parts have been lovingly machined in the Midlands. smile

But you is just a polisher! That's why badge snobbery is important.

If you is a driver, you isn't interested in da badge.

I like to keep my stuff clean, so I'm not a driver? Mmmm...You don't know me at all.
It's not snobbery, IMO Caterham have taken something pleasing to the eye, and made it unatractive.
Same way they dropped the nice bronze welded chassis, and started the cheapo weld spattered ones. Dropped the nice alloy Sierra diff, and stuck the pig iron BMW ones into a hideous steel cradle, to make it fit into a chassis deigned for the Ford unit.
As an aside, I'd like to see how the handbrake cable is changed after the BMW diff is in? rolleyes

IMO the badge is shyte.

Doesnt realy matter what you are caterham wise, a cleaner, driver or racer it came from somewhere....the badge is a part of its history, while everything else maybe changing its identity shouldnt. Fair enough its just a badge! but if its just a badge why change it.

I like the old one, the new ones a nice design i suppose but it would be better on something else.....same reason why the SP300 should have a round/ classic badge, that would look good.

Because the old one says '7' on it and they have started making the SP300R and karts, with apparently another road car on the way.
Therefore one way or the other they need a new badge and it would be a wasted opportunity not to bring all the branding/logos into line and draw the link between the F1 team and the road cars.
I think it looks very smart and extra kudos for them referencing '7' with the diagonal in the design.

Since the Caterham badge started off as an inverted Lotus badge, with them making a car they bought the rights to from Lotus, I think that their recent 'fresh start' as a proper rival to Lotus with an F1 team on board is a great time to ditch the Lotus reference! Expect Mr. Fernandes may have also had a role in that one! wink

So maybe they did their research and decided to base their new image on the opinions of people who might buy their cars in future?
Also consider that by the end of one season of F1 this year more people will have heard of Caterham for the first time than cumulatively in the previous 40 years. Just a thought.biggrin

Love the fact Caterham’s will now have a badge that says Caterham…Hopefullly we drop the seven crap along with the lotus link, both of which have f*ck all to do with anything made in the last decade at least.

Badges are for other peoples benefit....stop being so insecure.

It was only a light-hearted comment in relation to the rather shiny-ness of the picture!

I saw the shiny car and for a split second, I was hoping that we wouldn't see anything undesirable in the reflection, à la "kettle for sale on ebay".

Phew.

Car companies change their logos at their peril. Most change them very infrequently.

You could always make your own badge, all you need is a graphics package like PaintShop and a plastic sheet laminator
