Rebuilding my suspension after having all the front end off for powdercoating. Car is a 1994 K Series. I have the manual, and access to the web, but I still can't be sure that the rear top wishbone mounting should be put together with only a bolt and a nyloc nut, as appears to be suggested in the manual. The quote on this blatchat thread refers to the right section of the manual, and no mention of any washers etc, apart from the spacer.

Anyone got a photo that can confirm, or know off-hand?

Thanks, and reckon there may be additional posts to this thread over the next week...

Chris.

On a 1994 chassis the upper rear wishbone mount should use the same bolt as the top damper mount - it should be a long 1/2" caphead.

Not the case on my car for some reason. They are separate.

The same size bolt, not the same bolt. The front one is slightly longer as it also goes through the light bracket.

There is a 3/8" id 1/2" od sleeve to go in the wishbone don't forget

Yes just a bolt with a nyloc on the end

Also don't tighten any of the nuts/bolts until the car is on the deck with the engine in and the wheels on so you don't pre-load any of the metalastic bushes

Ta matey, the help was appreciated.. but now have another couple of questions...

Can anyone identify the sleeves that go into the tops of the bilstein dampers (not the rubberised ones, the ali ones that jsut sit inside the rubber/metal bushes) on the caterhamparts.co.uk site and what length caphead bolts should locate them? (at the top) Will try Redline/Ctaerham this morn.

Yep, I've lost the sleeves somewhere!

Many thanks.

PM me your address, I'll send you some

The retaining bolt for the damper is 5/16 unf. cap head or hex heads were used (1/2" AF, or a 7/32 allen), either is fine

>> Edited, on account of me confusing myself.

Very very kind, but ordered some from Redline already! What's the length of the capheads IC?

Thanks!

Next! Anyone got a spare 'special nyloc nut' (quoting the manual there) that goes on the bottom of the spherical joint (widetrack) biggrin
