Advice please on best options/ sources for mirrors to fit standard screen as a replacement for those on sidescreens. On caterham new french website the cars seem to be fitted with long support version, a bit odd but strangely alluring - not sure if caterham sell these as cant see them in their shop. I am not too bothered about 100 quid plus on carbon items unless a cheaper source somewhere.

Very interesting, I have not seen those mirrors before but TBH I don't really like them and they look a bit fragile. I have been researching this very subject over the past couple of weeks as part of the process of choosing the spec' for a new 7. The standard mirrors look awful and provide very blurred vision above 50 mph due to vibration. I reached the conclusion that the best option was to have SPA type mirrors fitted to the windscreen stanchion utilising the middle windscreen fixing screw. Demon Tweeks seem to have the best selection here:

The only problem with this solution is that the side screens will not open fully because they are prevented from doing so by the mirror. If you run without side screens or with half side screens this is not of course a problem. I will see how I get on with mirrors in this location and if the door problem proves to be too much of a nuisance I can easily remove the mirrors and fit a different type to the side screen, there is a good choice at Demon Tweeks. I can also revert back to the stanchion mirrors when running with half side screens. There is one fitted to the driver's side stanchion here:

I have a set of "home-made" mirrors on mine mounted to the windscreen support brackets. Whist these do indeed prevent the doors opening fully, I don't find it much of an issue & the rear view vision afforded by these is excellent!

I say home made as it was the previous owner who did it - he had a nice mini-lath for jobs like this - must get one myself!
Essentially they are a couple of old motorcycle 4" round mirrors, slightly convex with a good field of view...

I dare say a simpler solution with the same result would be to mount an aftermarket mirrors in place of one of the retainer bolts, like this, perhaps using something like these or similar ;-)

Cheers,
Neil.

Dont think my engineering skills up to it but look good. I guess they give you the width that the spindly "french" ones have

I've got some Racetec on mine which work well. Being shaped they are much more aerodynamic and therefore don't move about so much when on the move.

I should say that they are still attached to the sidescreens though.

With reference to the 'spindly' French ones I think you are referring to the Tripod mirrors which as far as I'm aware have been around since the late '90s. Have a look here and scroll down....... Not sure if they are available in the UK.
