I've just inherited my late fathers 1.8 Supersport which is currently insured with Adrian Flux. I am a named driver on this policy, but I need to look at changing ownership of the vehicle and starting new a policy in my own name. I did a quick search on the forum and based on information I gathered I requested quotations from MGM, Adrian Flux and Frank Pickles with varying results.

Previously the only experience I have of having two policies in with a motorcycle, which of course I had to start from scratch building up any NCB. I do have motor insurance with some 10+ years NCB which most of the above seem to take into consideration -- my questions are i) is it worth paying a small premium for any of the above mentioned insurers? and ii) is there a better way of running two vehicles and sharing NCB i.e dual car policies. Thanks in advance!

I have used all three, never had to claim, but admin wise they have all been fine.
I'm currently with Frank Pickles as they were the cheapest!

Would it be the case that specialist limited mileage type insurers dont work on an NCB basis?

Personally I am allergic to AF as are many on here.

I am starting to see a pattern with the views and opinons toward AF. My father never mentioned any bad expierences and generally shared my opinion that good customer service was worth paying a small premium.

It looks like Frank Pickles has come up with a reasonable quotation and deemed reputable broker so I will likely proceed with this - thanks all for your help. I am sure I will be more of a familiar name in the forum as I learn my way around the vehicle.

I'll see how I get on mileage wise, don't have as much time as I'd like these days... My father owned this particular vehicle from new (2001) and it's only just rolling around to 17k miles. If I can get out in it a little more I will do, but to date it's average 1.5-2k miles p.a

bit late to the party on this one as i see you already gave Barry at Pickles a positive call...
i know a couple of guys with its underwritten by KGM who have had the misfortune of having to make a claim. Bearing in mind its the underwriters that deal with the claims there's 2 elements to the 'value' of an insurance quote: quality of service and final price from teh Broker, for which i can't fault Frank Pickles ( in line with about 20 other guys that i regularly drive with )....but of course the stinger can be how a claim is handled by the U/Writer. In both the cases i have knowledge of the process was pretty painless and the claims were settled to the satisfaction of the owners.

So Barry @ Pickles gets a big thumbs up from me, as do KGM.

And as for this 2k a year mileage - whats that all about? get up early go for a blat and be home before anyone has noticed you'd gone missing.....

The ammended quote was with Highway, believe they are part of Liverpool Victoria. I guess you'll always get into arguments over agreed values. Minefield out there!

Christ, I did 2k in about 3 months after I picked up mine - although that did tail off a little over the winter smile

One can always disconnect the speedo cable / sensor and use a GPS... but that would be illegal...
