In praise of the half-hood
Discussion
Took the plunge recently and ordered a half-hood. Chose the one on Ebay (European Trimming Company) over the pricey Soft Bits alternative.
Got an email from the supplier asking me to ring them. It was regarding the red piping which, in their experience, was prone to fading - so would I like a different colour piping?
I chose blue, which turned out to be a perfect match to the colour of the car.
It arrived the next day and I set about fitting it. Easy-peasy. It turns out that I don't have the N/S "bulkhead bolt", but that doesn't seem to be a problem.
On a trip up to see the parents, the hood came in very handy (despite nearly losing it on a very blustery A1 - but we can put this down to "user error" - I didn't properly affix it to the top of the windscreen and it consequently blew off. Luckily, the straps at the back kept it attached to the car, so I could pull over and refit it.)
All in all, a good investment.
