Hi there, was wondering if someone can help me.

Just mated my type 9 gearbox to the upgraded x flow and noticed that gearbox oil leaked in the bellhousing. Is this because I put the engine and gearbox on its side to thighten the lower bolts? The oil seems to be leaking from the top of the bellhousing. Not a lot came out but gearbox was nearly empty.

Do I have a problem? Thanks

Difficult to answer without seeing the leak?

Is it internal within the bellhousing?
Or has it leaked from the gearbox cover and run into the bellhousing?

Is it leaking out of the bell housing or in between bell housing and gear box?

Hi, thanks for your interest and sorry that I took so long to get back, was putting everything together, much faster now.

It leaked from somewhere between the gearbox and the bellhousing, but it is still a bit of a mistery. It never leaked before, when it was in the car. It only leaked when I put the gearbox on it's side for a few minutes.

It did not leak again after. I filled it up before putting it in the car and left it overnight to see if it leaks and it didn't. All ok now.

Thanks again guys

Hi

There is supposed to be a gasket between the bell housing and gearbox. This is because the selectoy rod pokes out the end of the gearbox into a pocket on the bell housing. If the gasket is not there is will leak over time.
