Hi

I was hoping someone who has a Caterham with the 13" R300-R500 like the ones in the link at the end of my post could tell me if the standard (sierra) brake caliper that caterham use on the rear of the car has enough clearance to fit under the wheels, or whether Caterham have a different caliper they use on the R300-R500 applications that has handbrake.

I have been told by someone that they do use the standard caliper and someone else tells me they don't, so I was hoping someone on here who was the wheels and standard (sierra) rear calipers could maybe confirm this. It would be great if you had a picture of them as well maybe some mid build?

Yes, they are the standard sierra calipers and they do fit fine with the 8 spoke 13" rims. Perhaps the other advice was about some 13" rims catching on the edge of the de dion tube. This is corrected with a file and takes a minute or so to grind the very slight corner off. Make sure you don't spin your new rims though before checking otherwise they can easily be scored.

The only issue you might have is with stick-on balance weights hitting the ears - you have to get them fixed away from the edge. Plenty of room for the callipers.

It can depend on the year of the car as well, the later de-dion tubes were made 10mm longer

Although this mainly affects the clearance between the caliper and the radius arm

I can't remember the exact dimensions, I'll go and measure a couple this afternoon if I remember !!
