Magnificent 7's series

Would highly recommend it if you want enjoyable racing at good circuits. If you are after really close competition there are better places but its fairly gentlemanly on track and very friendly off.
If you want to run at the front there are some very fast cars and it will get £$£$£
Believe they are planning a Caterham only double-header at Spa in 2012 - worth it just for that.

Yup, spot on. I've done one meeting and it was a very relaxed affair. If you want to run at the front there are some very fast cars and it will get £$£$£

I've a friend who has just bought a supersport and will be running mag 7's next year as his first year of racing before hopefully going into the official series. The guys at the front are running 320bhp from what I've heard in CSR's so if you fancy outright wins be prepared to dig deep .
It is a fun and fair series and the classes seem quite fair now.I started last year and did a few races this year and the racing is hard fought but fair. There was only one car last year at mallory that had 310bhp and this year i think the highest horsepower is about 260 to 280 in the top duratecs. There are also some very quick drivers in all the classes and some of the lap times of the top cars will take some beating especially considering they are on road tyres.Whatever spec car you run it will be fun as chatting to a lot of drivers they all seem to enjoy the events.

sounds stunning. would love to enter next year. how many to a grid? do they mix up all the different power levels? what to stop you cheating? are there any regs at all?
Yes they have all different power levels but there are different classes.grids are normally full with about 32 starters depending on course.I think road tyres are anything road legal with suitable markings to prove as much. In reality only a few tyre types in use. A few on Kumhos, a few on Yoko 48s and a few (me included) on Avon ZZRs. There was some debate on wets and I think they might be thinking about allowing race wets.
I do a couple of mag 7 races a year. Hopefully we'll get out act together planning-wise and do several next year. As people have said, quite relaxed, sensible racing and you don't need a specific spec.
I race a 1999 ex-Superlight R that I had specced-up in its time as a road car and then converted to a racer. OK in Semsec, Mag 7s, but no good in standard Caterham series that require a precise spec. This was good for me. We race in top Caterham class against CSRs with sequentials and we hold our own! Admittedly, the engine is almost R500 spec and my car is lighter. Great fun.
Happy to answer any questions. James

Sounds very similar to my car James. I have a '98 superlight r that has been serially modded to race spec since buying it as a road car. Running out of competition on track days now so racing is the next step. Ironically everyone is on slicks at trackdays now.
Doesn't sound like Avon acb10's are allowed. The supersoft compound offer stupendous grip but wouldn't last a dry 40 minute race.

Hi "The Pits" look forward to meeting you in person at last ! I've had a great year driving one of those unspeakable German cars in one of the other series that come under the CSCC umbrella. Particularly at Spa, where the Seven's and the Classics were sharing paddock space, I made a lot of new friends and cemented many old acquaintances, for me the CSCC have provided an excellent platform for enthusiasts to enjoy sensible racing with like minded people .
